Welcome to my office! It looks like most other offices.

This is how I feel about being here for 12+ hours. It is dark now, it was dark when I left this morning … and my hair looked a lot better, I’d like to think.

This is my one pop of color in an otherwise black and white outfit. I must say – this nail polish is not for boys. Nor, I’ve found, is black, gray, or taupe … my husband is not a fan. Lucky for him, it’s not permanent. Maybe I’ll take it off before our date this weekend. We’ll see.

Sweater: Land’s End Canvas, Jeans: Joe’s, Boots: Steve Madden, Necklace: Target, Belt: Old Navy, Socks: Target
I should pioneer a new challenge – the Wear Your Brown Boots 30 Days in a Row Challenge. I think I’d be really, really good at it.
I was a bit disappointed to only get one quick shot of today’s simple outfit, because I really liked it. Even though these jeans are a wee bit jegging-y to wear with a short top, I somehow felt okay.
Hope you’re all having good weeks … mine is plugging along, and I’m getting by with thoughts of fun weekend plans and FORTY SEVEN DEGREE weather on Sunday – are you kidding!!?!

Sweater: J. Crew, tee: J. Crew, jeans: Joe’s, socks: J. Crew, shoes: Cole Haan, belt & necklace: Forever 21
Well, I busted out the ballet flats this morning! Granted, I layered them with some argyle socks, but that still counts, I think.
I would have taken a detail shot for you, but if I’d done that, there was a very real risk of me not being able to feel my fingers afterward. Whether from the cold or the geese nipping at them is up for debate.

Shirt: Gap, Skirt: J. Crew, Tights: Target, Boots: Steve Madden, Belt: thrifted
I picked this shirt to remix specifically for the bold crimson and blue stripes. You see, I’m a Kansas Jayhawk to the core, and I’ll be damned if I was heading toward March Madness with no way to express my spirit!
I think the boys felt me beaking, because they fought for a wonderful victory over our biggest rivals. Rock chalk!

Scarf: J. Crew, Tee: Target, Sweater: J. Crew, Cords: J. Crew, Boots: Sperry, Earrings: Betsy Johnson
It may have been wishful thinking when I included suede heels and little ballet flats into my mix. With another 6 inches of snow on the way tomorrow, I’m not sure I’ll ever get out of these boots!

You know what they say; better late than pregnant.

sweater: J. Crew, shirt: Lands End Canvas, skirt: GAP, tights: Target, belt: J. Crew, boots: Steve Madden, earrings: showed up in my duffle bag sometime this winter. are they yours?
In the interest of not being a cheater, I ripped this skirt tonight. I got it caught in my car door and walked away. I almost fell too. Did I mention I walked around work for 3 hours this morning with the tag sticking out of the back of my sweater? Hell of a day, hell of a day … Moral of the story is, I’ve substituted in another skirt. It’s a similar color, but very different shape. I hope you forgive me! (For the skirt sub and for the pregnant joke at the beginning. I love babies. Promise)

That was a really lame title. But I’m not sure anyone’s still reading this … looks like we might be starting from scratch!
Winter 30×30 is the perfect place to pick back up, in my humble opinion. So here we go!
Like I said, I haven’t put a lot of thought into remixing the following pieces. I know the numbers of each type of piece are about right, but I have no idea if I’m going to stay warm enough, run out of combinations, or be uncomfortable over the next month.
Withough further ado …

What’s that? Do I like neutrals? I mean, I guess so, but I’d never really … oh.

Yep, I guess that’s pretty damning. Haha! Here’s hoping that none of us get too bored over the next 30 days!

We are proving ourselves to be completely unreliable, huh?
Still, I AM going to participate in the Winter 30×30 … in fact, I started today!! Two days late, yes, but that’s today is the first day that I’ve left my house or gotten out of my PJs.
Although it’s not good for my social life or my self-image, if it were up to my first instincts, my 30 pieces would be 1 pair of Uggs, 1 pair of yoga pants, and 28 hoodies. It’s the weather, yes, but also some other things I’ve been dealing with in my personal life. I have just been feeling blah.
In fact, I think that’s a lot of why I disappeared from the blog again. Somehow, The Lady Board became mostly just an outfit-of-the-day blog … and that’s not really what I’ve been focused on recently. I don’t mind getting a bit more personal/random with my posts, but is that fair to the two other ladies who share this space with me? (That’s half rhetorical and half a real question … feel free to answer.)
So anyway, I don’t mean to get all emo. I’m expecting this 30×30 challenge to be a bit more of a wild ride than last time since I put way less effort into my choices than last time – like, make sure I have a few shoes, pants, and sweaters, with no regard to how they go together … this could get interesting.
I’ll post my 30 pieces later this evening, and start in with the outfit posts (and potentially some other, more random posts) tomorrow!

Hello, I’m a hot mess! Both this sweater and the jeggings break the first cardinal rule of dressing yourself as an adult: they don’t really fit. I fell in love with the Fireside sweater on Anthro’s website, but when I went to try it on, I saw that many of the reviews were true: the sweater has a really weird bell shape that’s not exactly flattering. I tried to show it off in the first photo above, but really I think you can see it better here:

Still, I was smitten with the color and the comfort … so I bought it. THEN, I ran across these jeggings – Joe’s Juliette. AND THEY WERE FIFTEEN DOLLARS. For my favorite brand of denim. Unfortunately, they were at least a size bigger than I would normally wear – probably 2 sizes bigger in such stretchy material. But I couldn’t pass them up at $15. Yeah, I was hiking the old man butt and crotch up all day long. They’re cute for about half a day. I hope I can shrink them.

Then, my boots. Ah, my boots. The Sperry Ladyfish. I saw them first on Tania a while back. She decided they weren’t really her style, but I knew that I had to make them mine. I’m realizing now that they’re a definite risk … but it’s a risk I’m glad I took. They’re warm and fun.

Sweater: Anthropologie
Tee: Gap
Jeans: Joe’s Jeans
Boots: Sperry
Necklace: American Eagle
